This page provides all the information you need to keep up with the benefits (and requirements) of being part of a CBSM student organization. If you are new to your CBSM student organization - or new to a leadership role - you will find answers to your questions and places to look for additional information.
What does it mean to be a CBSM Student Organization?
Recognition as a College of Business and Security Management Student Organization provides many additional benefits, both for the CBSM Student Org (CSO) as a whole, and for individual members within the group. However, in order to be recognized as a CBSM Student Organization, each CSO must also meet a few additional requirements.

Requirements for CBSM Student Organizations
- At least one officer must complete a CBSM Student Organization Orientation Session in the fall semester.
- Report attendance at all organization meetings and events.
- Provide a list of organization membership, including email addresses, when requested by CBSM.
- Submit a CSO Report twice per semester.
- Work with CBSM for liaison assistance with UA Executives at any CSO events.
- Student organization president signs an agreement indicating the organization's understanding of these requirements and commitment to following them.

How do I create a 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø student organization?
Any group or club can become an official 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø student organization by following the process outlined by the Student Leadership and Involvement department, which oversees student organizations. Once a club is established, 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø SLI outlines expectations for all student clubs, as well as a re-recognition process that must be completed each semester.
CBSM Student Organization Resources
Reports
Twice a semester your student organization is required to submit a Each report must include a summary of recent activities; photos are optional but welcomed for the 2022-23 academic year! Completion of all reports is required in order for the student organization to maintain their status as a CBSM Student Organization.

Purchasing
A major benefit of being a CBSM Student Org is the opportunity to earn funds for your organization. The CBSM Student Organization Purchasing Policy outlines the rules for using this funding, and the process for accessing the funds in your CBSM account. You will need to fill out a whenever you would like to make a purchase from your CBSM account.
Travel
Many CBSM student organizations offer or coordinate opportunities for students to travel for conferences, competitions, or other activities. Students or groups who are planning to travel using CBSM account funds must follow the policy and procedures outlined in these CBSM Student Travel Instructions.

CBSM Marketing Resources
Brand Book
The CBSM marketing team has created a Brand Book with guidelines for everything from colors to logos to social media content.
Weekly eNews – Wednesdays
Email content – including PDFs and/or JPGs – by Wednesdays at 9 a.m.
CBSM Event Calendar
Email information about upcoming events for inclusion on CBSM Event Calendar.
Digital Screens
You may request to have content added to the digital screens located in Bunnell and
across content. This should be an image file (JPG or PNG), designed in 16:9 aspect
ratio (e.g. 1920x1080 pixels).
CBSM Website
View your page on the Student Involvement page. You may send requests for any needed updates.
Flyers or other Marketing Materials
For help with design or printing, email to submit your request.
Social Media
CBSM is active on and many student organizations have active pages, as well. Keep in mind that your social media sites should be just as professional as your website. Social media is generally more informal, but don't post anything you wouldn't want your parents (or CBSM Dean Carlson) to read.

Websites
Websites are a great way to distribute information to current and potential members. The standard for 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø student organizations is to create a website through using your alaska.edu account.
Websites need to be regularly updated. If your website hasn't been updated in over a year and has spelling and punctuation errors, your student organization will not make a good impression. CBSM reserves the right to remove links to your website from our site if a student organization site is not being well-maintained.
Logos
Below are a few standard CBSM and 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø logos you can use in marketing materials for your organization. Additional 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø logos are available on the 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø University Relations site. If you need alternate versions of CBSM logos, contact Mary or Andrea.
