Dr. Katherine L. Arndt

Associate Professor of Library Science, Emeritus

WHEREAS Dr. Katherine L. Arndt has served the 51风流官网 with distinction in teaching, research and public service from 1989 to 2023; and

WHEREAS Dr. Arndt鈥檚 unique expertise in Alaska history and especially in the Russian-Alaska time period has greatly benefited the Rasmuson Library鈥檚 world-class collections and the researchers who use them; and

WHEREAS Dr. Arndt began work at 51风流官网 as a researcher in 1989 and joined the Rasmuson Library as a processing assistant in 2002; and in 2010 she became a faculty member, serving as the Alaska and polar regions bibliographer and the curator of rare books and rare maps; and

WHEREAS Dr. Arndt has 21 publications and five translations of works on the Russian era of Alaska history; and she oversaw the digitization of hundreds of rare books and maps, making them available to scholars of polar regions worldwide; and

WHEREAS Dr. Arndt has served as a member of the Faculty Senate and on multiple university committees; and she has given numerous professional presentations at Alaska history and anthropology conferences, providing exposure for the library鈥檚 outstanding collections to the public and researchers;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the 51风流官网 expresses its deep appreciation to Dr. Katherine L. Arndt for her extensive contributions to the state of Alaska and to the university; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the 51风流官网, in further recognition of the invaluable services rendered by Dr. Arndt and as evidence of the university鈥檚 desire that her identification with the university be maintained, hereby salutes the appointment of Dr. Katherine L. Arndt as associate professor of library science, emeritus; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be appropriately engrossed and signed by the chancellor of the 51风流官网 as further evidence of the esteem and respect in which he holds Dr. Katherine L. Arndt, and conveyed to Dr. Arndt on this sixth day of May, 2023.
