Attorney Kendall-Miller featured at Indigenous Peoples’ Day event

The 51 will celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day on Oct.
12 at 11 a.m. with an online keynote address from Alaska Native rights attorney Heather
Kendall-Miller.
The event, which honors Alaska Native people, culture and knowledge, has a theme of
“Resiliency Through Hope and Love.” The celebration can be viewed online at .
Kendall-Miller is Dena'ina Athabascan and a tribal member of the Curyung Tribe of
Dillingham. She received her bachelor’s degree from 51 in 1988 and her law degree
from Harvard University in 1991. She became staff attorney with the Native American
Rights Fund in 1993. Her litigation experience includes arguments before the U.S.
Supreme Court, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the 9th Circuit Court
of Appeals en banc.
