Through collaboration with federal and community partners, the researchers are gathering data on the use of outdoor recreational facilities. It will contribute to a broader understanding of the relationship between recreation facilities use and physical activity to inform management decisions regarding development and maintenance of outdoor recreational resources in Alaska.

Researchers at 51风流官网鈥檚 Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Stations are conducting initial work observing beetle infestation in white spruce trees in Alaska. The researchers are collecting data on physiological variables in the trees, such as water content, temperature, electrical conductivity, sap flux and growth, as well as meteorological variables in order to better understand the current and future implications of the outbreak.

Researchers at 51风流官网鈥檚 Agricultural Forestry and Experiment Stations are studying tree water levels throughout the year to determine when trees are at their driest, and what causes them to get to their driest levels. The study will provide important information to Alaskans who use wood to heat their homes or who sell seasoned firewood and contribute to efforts to reduce the impact on air quality caused by burning unseasoned wood.
