51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø faculty, staff and students,
As you may be aware, the Board of Regents passed today providing direction to the president and chancellors regarding how 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø, UAA
and UAS comply with all federal and state nondiscrimination laws and guidance.
I recognize that this is a significant moment for 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø but, as stated in the board’s
motion, it is not intended to diminish our commitment to the success of every student
and employee. We at the 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø care deeply about each and
every member of our 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø community.
Included in the board’s direction is removal of DEI language from websites and other
electronic or print materials. We will work to provide further guidance on this and
other elements of the motion on Monday.
I look forward to engaging with our students, faculty and staff on this issue. Your
leadership and support will help keep our focus on the education and well-being of
our students. I want to thank you for your work every day on behalf of our university.
Ìý
— Dan White, 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø chancellor
