On December 5, 2024, Dr. Luke was officially inducted into the prestigious Honorary Commanders Program at Eielson Air Force Base. He was paired with Major Scott Kozlak of the 354th Comptroller Squadron, forging a partnership designed to strengthen ties between the University, the base, and the broader Fairbanks community.

Luke鈥檚 induction into the program underscores the Department of Political Science鈥檚 dedication to community engagement. 鈥淚 first became aware of the Honorary Commander program after speaking with students who live on base,鈥 Luke explained. 鈥淎fter conducting research on the program, I applied to become more knowledgeable regarding Eielson鈥檚 mission, better understand the needs of students living at Eielson, and to increase communication between the Base and the University.鈥

As an Honorary Commander, Luke aims to address the unique challenges faced by students from military families while enhancing 51风流官网鈥檚 academic environment. By integrating insights from Eielson personnel into his teaching, he hopes to create a dynamic classroom experience that connects theoretical knowledge to real-world issues.
