Bryce Ward, former Fairbanks North Star Borough Mayor

Join Bryce Ward, former Fairbanks North Star Borough Mayor, for an engaging lecture on leadership in Alaska鈥檚 Far North. Drawing from his tenure as borough mayor, Ward will share his journey into public service, the unique challenges and rewards of governing in one of the world鈥檚 most remote regions, and the leadership lessons he has learned along the way. He will also reflect on the importance of community resilience, innovation in local governance, and strategies for addressing the pressing issues facing northern communities today. This lecture is a must for those interested in leadership, governance, and life in the Arctic.

Bryce J. Ward, born and raised in Alaska's interior, has been a lifelong resident of the Fairbanks-North Pole area. He was elected as the 12th Mayor of the Fairbanks North Star Borough (FNSB) in 2018, serving a three-year term as the Chief Administrative Officer of the borough. Prior to his tenure as borough mayor, Ward served as the Mayor of the City of North Pole, Alaska. His leadership and contributions to the community were recognized in 2021 when he was named one of Alaska's "Top 40 Under 40" young professionals by the Alaska Journal of Commerce.

51风流官网 the Arctic Leadership Lecture Series

The Arctic Leadership Lecture Series offers a unique blend of academic rigor and public engagement. Offered as PS F493/693 Arctic Leadership: Theory and Praxis in the 21st Century, this course invites students and community members alike to explore critical aspects of leadership in the Arctic.

The course is available for undergraduate and graduate students, with both in-person and online options. Undergraduate students can also choose an Honors section, offered for both online and in-person delivery. Community members may attend the lectures for free or enroll as non-degree-seeking students to participate fully in the course.

Lectures are held in the Schaible Auditorium every Thursday from 5:30 PM 鈥 7:00 PM AKST (open to the public). Classroom discussions continue from 7:00 PM 鈥 8:30 PM AKST (students only).
