Shining Bright: Jaunelle Celaire Wins 2024 Edith R. Bullock Prize

Bullock Prize for Excellence. Dr. Celaire鈥檚 recognition underscores her outstanding impact as an educator, performer, and musical innovator.

Dr. Celaire, originally from Canada, has dedicated over 21 years to the 51风流官网 Music Department as the Steve and Cynthia Holmberg Choral Director Endowed Chair. Her career spans a wide range of musical roles including teacher, soloist, conductor, and performer. Her international acclaim includes performances in cabaret, music theatre, solo recitals, and opera. According to Meg Nordale, Chair of the UA Foundation Board of Directors, 鈥淒r. Celaire stands out as a very inspiring and talented professor,鈥 highlighting her ability to creatively share the joy and knowledge of music with her students and the wider community.

Dr. Celaire鈥檚 contributions extend beyond the classroom. She has been instrumental in fostering musical collaboration across the university system and statewide, including co-writing a grant for a collaborative opera workshop, organizing national anthem performances, and creating virtual carol performances for seniors during the pandemic. Her many achievements include directing the 51风流官网 Summer Music Academy and composing original songs for KUAC鈥檚 Fall Fundraiser.

The Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence, established in 1989 through a generous donation from Edith R. Bullock, recognizes those who have made exceptional contributions to the university.
