Recent alumna shows her Nanook pride
Annual support by young alumni is essential for the 51·çÁ÷¹ÙÍø School of Management (SOM)
to continue its tradition of quality education. Young alumni – those who have graduated
within the last ten years – are the hallmark of SOM's future. Their voices, leadership,
and support will make a lasting impact at SOM for years to come.
Meet Michele Stringham, Class of 2011 with a BBA in Finance.
Michele is an Advisor Assistant for in Sacramento, CA
Looking back upon your time at SOM, what most prepared you for the professional world?
My interaction with the SOM staff and students, specifically organizing school events
and projects, most prepared me for the professional world. Throughout my work day,
I am in constant communication with clients, co-workers, and upper management. My
ability to communicate effectively and politely has been one of the sole drivers in
advancing me within my firm.
What do you enjoy about your current position?
My job allows me to help others improve their financial health.
I enjoy the interaction with people from all walks of life and socioeconomic backgrounds.
What inspired you to give back to SOM as a newly-graduated alumna?
I gave back because I strongly believe in SOM's mission and want to do what I can
to perpetuate that mission for the current students.
How did your involvement with student organizations add your academic experience?
My involvement in Associated Students of Business (ASB) provided me with networking
opportunities that were both socially advantageous and helpful in my professional
career.
My experience with both ASB and Student Investment Fund gave me more dimension and
"flare" on my resume, which led to an internship and my current job.
What advice do you have for current SOM students?
Get involved, stay active, and give back when you can.
