Your UA ID is your eight-digit student number, it starts with a 3. You will need this number to identify yourself when working with University staff. The Office of Admissions will send you your UA ID Number after you apply.

Your UA username will usually consist of your initials, last name and (sometimes) another identifier. This is your login name and default UA email address. Example: John A. Doe is jadoe.

The time it takes to receive and admission decision depends on the program you apply to and the status of the materials we require to review your application.

You will receive an email and a packet in the mail from 51风流官网 with a certificate of admission, letter of admission and other information. You can also check the status of your application in the .

Check your admissions status in the , if it says Admit/Incomplete then you are not yet eligible for financial aid. Check the application checklist for items you still need to submit to the Admissions Office. Once your checklist is complete, your admissions status will change to Admit Clear and you will be eligible for financial aid.

  • Applications to be non degree-seeking are free.
  • Applications to an occupational endorsement are free.
  • Applications to a certificate or associate degree are $40.
  • Applications to a bachelor degree are $50.
  • Applications to a graduate degree are $75.

There is a $25 late fee for bachelor and graduate applications that are submitted after the published university deadline.

The admission application fee is non refundable.

An unofficial transcript is a transcript sent via email as an attachment or sent directly to 51风流官网 by an applicant. Current high school seniors may submit unofficial copies of their transcript for review.

To be considered official, transcripts must arrive in sealed envelopes from each institution attended. You may also submit your transcripts electronically through a secure transcript service. Emailed/faxed transcripts will not be considered official.

An in-progress transcript is a transcript that is missing final grades or a graduation date (if applicable).

A final transcript is a transcript that includes all grades and a graduation date (if applicable).

51风流官网 allows students to postpone an application up to one year from the original application term. (i.e. Applied for Fall 2017, you can postpone up to Fall 2018).

Let us know if you are accepting you would like to postpone your application.

Withdrawing your application will not remove you from any current or future enrollment. You will need to drop or withdraw from your classes on . If you have problems with your enrollment please contact the Registrar's Office.
After being admitted you will need to meet with your academic advisor and register for classes. You will not automatically be put into any classes after being admitted.

 Current 51风流官网 students in a certificate, associate or bachelor degree may add a degree of a different level by completing a new application for admission. Contact a 51风流官网 Admissions Counselor to receive a fee waiver for adding a degree.

If you want to add a degree of the same level you can use the 51风流官网 Change of Major form.

If you haven't registered for classes yet, you can email uaf-admissions@alaska.edu and let us know which program you would like to change to.

If you have been attending 51风流官网 in a degree program, use the 51风流官网 Change of Major form to change your major. You must have the department complete the bottom half of the form. Once completed it can be dropped off to the front counter in Signers' Hall.

  • Occupational endorsements 
    These programs are designed to give students occupational training in a specific field. They require between 9 and 24 credit hours, and generally take less than a year to complete.
     
  • Certificates and Associate Degrees
    Certificate programs vary in length; however, you can usually complete them in one year. Certificates are awarded in specific occupational fields with emphasis on entering the job market. 

    Associate degree programs are typically 60 credit hours and take about 2 years to complete.
     
  • Bachelor Degrees
    51风流官网 bachelor's degree programs are typically 120 credit hours and take about 4 years to complete. Bachelor programs prepare students for work in a particular field and can be a foundation for a graduate degree.
     
  • Postbaccalaureate Certificates
    51风流官网 School of Education offers post-baccalaureate certificates in four areas.
     
  • Graduate degrees
    51风流官网 offers graduate certificates, master's and doctoral programs.

You can pay for your application online with a credit card, payment will be required at the end of the application.

Applicants are able to submit an application after the deadline but there may be a late fee of $25 applied in addition to the application fee.

If you have not submitted an application you can make changes to your application in the .

If you have submitted an application, email the Admissions Office at uaf-admissions@alaska.edu to request changes, admissions staff will inform you of the appropriate procedures depending on the type of change request.

Students may submit more than one application, each application will be reviewed independently.

Once you have been admitted, you remain admitted as long as you:

  • Maintain active enrollment (i.e. take classes), OR
  • Do not break attendance of more than one semester, OR
  • Do not become Academically Disqualified

Applicants applying to an occupational endorsement, certificate or associate degree are only required to submit official transcripts if they wish to have a transfer credit evaluation.

Applicants applying to a bachelor degree, licensure program, or graduate degree are required to submit official transcripts from all previous institutions in order to be admitted.

If you have colleges listed on your application you did not attend or accidentally added, please contact the Office of Admissions at uaf-admissions@alaska.eduto fix the error.

If the transcript was sent electronically it should show as received a week from the date sent. If the transcript was mailed it should show as received a week from the date we receive it.

Prior transcripts received for a student of the University of Alaska are held for 7 years after graduation or the last date of attendance.
We encourage all applicants to upload documents straight into the  when necessary. After you have paid for and submitted your application a checklist will populate on the homepage of the Portal. Click into the checklist item for a chance to upload your document.

Yes, when filling out your application you can upload a copy of your current high school transcript so we can review your application. This transcript needs to include all courses you took and grades you received from 9th through 11th grade. If you are unable to upload a copy to your application, one can be emailed to uaf-admissions@alaska.edu or mailed to Office of Admissions, P.O. Box 757480, Fairbanks, AK 99775.

Yes, homeschool students must have their transcripts sent to 51风流官网 before an application can be reviewed for admission.

As of December 6, 2023, 51风流官网 will not require ACT/SAT test scores for admission to any undergraduate degree program. Test scores will not be taken into consideration for 51风流官网 scholarships but a qualifying score is required for some non-51风流官网 scholarship opportunities, such as the Alaska Performance Scholarship (APS). In some cases, test scores may be used in lieu of placement tests for registration or class prerequisites, however alternative options are available to all students.

AP and IB courses are eligible for credit to use towards your degree. Your exam scores will need to be sent to 51风流官网 so we can evaluate them for . The school code for AP is 0064. International Baccalaureate (IB) .

If you did not participate in the AHEAD program at 51风流官网 and have never been degree seeking at another college or university then you will be considered a freshmen.

First-year students 20 years old and younger, have a live-on-campus requirement for their first year.
  1. Submit an in-progress transcript before graduation
    This transcript can be attached to the application or emailed to 51风流官网. The transcript must include the following:
    • The applicant's full name and date of birth
    • The name of the school
    • Courses and grades for 9th through 11th grade
    • A cumulative GPA
       
  2. Submit an official, final transcript after graduation
    This transcript must be sent to 51风流官网 directly from the school. The transcript must include the following:
    • The student's full name and date of birth
    • The name of the school
    • Courses and grades for 9th through 12th grade
    • A cumulative GPA
    • A posted date of graduation
       

The in progress transcript is not required. Applicants may wait until after graduation to have their transcripts sent; however, it will take longer to receive an admission decision.

Send 51风流官网 official transcripts from your previous institution(s). Once you have been admitted your transcripts are sent to transfer credit evaluators. It typically takes 2 weeks for your evaluation to be completed.

At the time of admission any transcripts on file are sent to our transcript evaluators for an evaluation, this typically takes two weeks. If you have transcripts that come in after admission they will be sent to the transcript evaluators at that time. You will receive a notification when your evaluation is complete.

Official transcript evaluations are not done before admission.

For undergraduate applicants, acceptable grounds for automatically waiving this requirement may include:

  • Applicants can submit a minimum score of 105 (Duolingo is only accepted if the TOEFL/IELTS exams are unavailable in the applicant鈥檚 home country).
  • Successful completion (C or higher) of a college-level, non-ESL English composition course.
  • A comparable score on another approved exam such as the ACCUPLACER or EdReady exam.
  • Completion of secondary education in Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia or Canada (excluding Quebec).
  • Graduate from a U.S. high school academically prepared to enter WRTG 111X.
  • Be a long-term Permanent Resident of the U.S. and can provide adequate documentation (transcripts, test scores, etc.) demonstrating that you are academically prepared to enter WRTG 111x.

For graduate applicants, acceptable grounds for automatically waiving this requirement may include:

  • Completion of education in Great Britain, New Zealand, Australia, or Canada (excluding Quebec).
  • Successfully passed WRTG 111x or the equivalent at another U.S. college or university

If you do not meet the requirements for an automatic waiver:

  • Undergraduate applicants may have a waiver request routed to the Provost for approval, initiated by Office of Admissions.
  • Graduate applicants may have a waiver request routed to the department and graduate school for approval, initiated by Office of Admissions.

A sister city tuition is tuition offered at the resident rate for students who are residents of countries which hold approved sister city/sister province agreements with the University of Alaska.
